Fostering Inclusion in Early Childhood Education
Introduction In the formative years of a child's life, early childhood education plays a crucial role in shaping their development. A nurturing and inclusive environment can significantly impact a child's future, fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth. Inclusion in Early Childhood Education is committed to driving transformative change in the UAE by promoting a culture of inclusivity and collaboration among early years professionals.
A Personal Journey and a Shared Mission
Although my journey in Early Childhood Education started 16 years ago, a significant turning point occurred 11 years ago with the birth of my first child, who was born with Down Syndrome. This life-changing event created a newfound passion to ensure that every child, regardless of their abilities, has access to inclusive education, sports, and community engagement. Inspired by this personal experience, I established Inclusion in Early Childhood Education with the mission to empower early years professionals to create inclusive environments that cater to the needs of all children.
To achieve our mission, we have implemented several key initiatives:
• Free Monthly Sessions: We offer free monthly sessions to equip early years professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to create inclusive classrooms.
• Building Partnerships: We foster collaborations with nursery leaders and organizations to promote a culture of inclusion and understanding.
• WhatsApp Community: Our dynamic WhatsApp group serves as a platform for heads of inclusion and nursery managers to connect, share experiences, and seek support.
By breaking down barriers through knowledge sharing and partnership building, we strive to create a more inclusive landscape across nurseries and early learning centres in the UAE.
Vision for an Inclusive Future
Our vision is to inspire a paradigm shift in the early years education sector towards greater inclusivity, understanding, and support. We envision a future where every nursery and early learning centre in the UAE is a welcoming and inclusive environment for all children. By fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning, we aim to create a network of nurseries that excel in inclusive education.
